Kitchen Hand Towel with Candlewicking Embellishment

Materials and Supplies
  • Pearl Sequins Foot (SA150)
  • Brother Aqua Melt water soluble stabilizer (SA540 or SA541)
  • Purchased kitchen towel
  • Novelty fabric to be used for appliqués
  • Double sided fusible web
  • Water soluble marker
  • Thread for appliqué and candlewicking
Step 1 Select motifs on fabric to be used as appliqués.
Step 2 Cut out shapes leaving extra fabric around the shape to be cut to size after fusible is applied.
Step 3 Follow manufacturer's directions and adhere fusible to wrong side of fabric.
Step 4 Cut to appliqué size.
Step 5 Place shapes on hand towel and fuse in place.
Step 6 Use stitch of choice to appliqué shapes to towel; i.e., qulting appliqué stitch (1-35 utility menu on the 4500D or 1-34 utility menu on the QC1000). This is a small buttonhole stitch.
Step 7 Draw the stems and leaf with a water soluble marker.
Step 8 Select Character/Decorative Stitch menu, choose My Custom Stitch® and input the following stitch coordinates:
 
 
  • Use Brother Embroidery thread in the needle
  • Use Brother bobbin thread in the bobbin
  • Use the Pearl and Sequins Foot SA-150
  • Use Brother tear away stabilizer SA-5810
