    NQ1300PRW
Overall it is a nice machine. There are lots of features on the machine. Stitches are good. I do not like that I have to move the needle to the center position when I turn on the machine - I've broken a ton of needles by forgetting to do that. I did have some trouble on denim jeans I was repairing - just wouldn't handle the thicker areas. Regular sewing it does just fine, but if I had it to do over again I probably would have looked a little more before purchasing to be sure it could handle ... read more what I need it for.

    Dream Machine!
I have been using a portable sewing machine for 27 years. It was my first sewing machine. It partnered with me through curtains, costumes for plays, costumes for Halloween and every day repairs. My new sewing machine was a birthday gift and I was both excited and a little nervous. This new machine was light years from my prior. However, it's marked so well that loading a bobbin, threading, and choosing stitches and all those little things like cutting thread and lifting feet and filling bobbins ... read more is a BREEZE! It has taken all the annoyances away and given time back by making it easier. I love my new machine!

    Love my machine
I have had this machine for a few years now and I use it to make curtains, patch pant knees, hem pants, make dolls' clothes - you name it. I love having the embroidery options.

    Excellent value for the price
I bought this machine right before Christmas when my inexpensive Singer completely broke down. My new Brother was fast and easy to set up and start working. I had to quickly make 16 little quilted stockings to hold scratch cards and candies for our guests. The Brother did the job quickly and easily with no problems. An added bonus was that I could add the names to the felt cuffs of the stockings with the wonderful, basic monogramming option. Very simple font but perfect on the cuff of my ... read more little stockings when done in nice bright red embroidery thread. The machine runs more quietly and smoothly than any other sewing machine I have ever used. I highly recommend this sewing machine.

    I bought this machin!
I bought this machine to take to sewing class because my Viking Topaz is to big and expensive to carry out twice a week. This machine has everything I wanted on it such as: On and Off without using foot pedal, needle up/down, needle threader and ability to move needle vertically. It is easy to set up however the needle threading is different from other machines I've had. Also comes with a small quilting table that I keep on most of the time. All and all, its a great little machine.

    Great travel/basic machine
I bought this machine to take with me to classes and retreats. My Brother 2400 is too big to take so need at lighter machine to take with me. I really like this machine and all it does. I only missing thing that I wish it had is the automatic foot lift when the needle is down. It does have a knee lift which works, but really miss having that automatic lift. If you are looking for a first machine this machine is what you are looking for to buy. It sews great and is the little sister to my big machine!

    great for quilting
I am 66 years old and an experienced seamstress and quilter. Features new to me that have made sewing,oh,so much better are the great lighting, the needle threader, scissors, knee rod that lifts the pressure foot, 1/4inch foot , and it sews an even stitch and is pretty quiet too. Handles thick fabric/ seams too.

    AMAZING MACHINE!!
I purchased this machine about five years ago. I had virtually ZERO knowledge with sewing- just the basics of replacing buttons, small tears, etc. I am, however, a fairly good artist and have a good eye to design and bring my creations to life. I like to try new things and research what I do not know. SOOOOOO, after reading my manual, I began to sew, I COULD NOT believe how easy this machine is to use!! I have created so many things- JEANS, HATS, SHIRTS, SWIMSUITS!!! I am NOT KIDDING when I ... read more tell you that I had NEVER made any clothing in my life, and now I am sewing EVERYTHING I can imagine! The manual is so complete and easy to follow- the machine has a built-in help screen at your fingertips, whenever you need it. One of my favorite features is the programmable custom stitch. You can design your OWN, one-of-a-kind, design and then save it for future access! Originally, I'd bought this for hobby/personal use. NOW, I have an order from a large corporation that LOVED several of my custom designs and wanted me to make ALL of their employee gear/business gear! Pretty good for a novice, huh? LOL! Furthermore, I'd give this machine ONE-HUNDRED STARS if I could! Anyone can use this machine and create beautiful pieces. ALL you have to do is READ THE MANUAL, and be patient with yourself as you get to know your machine- it will not take long, TRUST ME! RUN, DON'T WALK! and BUY IT, BUY IT, BUY IT!!

    Great Purchase
I found my PC-420PRW on Amazon as a refurbished machine at a great price. I have had it for 18 months and use it for general sewing and quilting. The only problem is that is seems to lose its tension after doing free motion and the resetting and testing is very time consuming. But overall I still would give it an Excellent rating.

Has everything I need and more
There are more options to check out but so far, I find this model is exactly what I was looking for when I decided it was time for a new machine. I didn't know how much more comfortable it was to sew with the detachable table. Choosing stitches is a difficult choice at times because there are so many let alone the ability to edit and combine stitches. Once you've made some combinations, you can save them. One of the reasons I chose this one was for the sideways sewing, which is very useful.

I love it! Use it every day!
I love it. Use it every day. I am a new quilter, totally addicted, with one new project after the other. Just finished a foundation pieced Old Barney Lighthouse wall hanging. Many small pieces. Read the clearly understood manual many times. Once I understood the workings of the machine, everything went smoothly. I love the snap down needle threaded, the thread cutter, the variable speed and the stop and go button. Have not used many other options, just quilting.
