A: The MW-100 series printers are the same except for the communications interface. The MW-100 has USB and IrDA interfaces; the MW-120 has USB, IrDA, and Serial interfaces; and the MW-140BT has USB and Bluetooth interfaces. The MW-260 is larger, and features USB, IrDA, and Bluetooth interfaces. It uses A6 (4.1"W x 5.8"L) thermal cut-sheet paper.

Q: What software does Brother provide with MPrint?
A: Brother MPrint Software on CD:

  • For BlackBerry: MPrint Add-ins for printing from BlackBerry 'Messages', 'Tasks', and 'Calendar', and 'Address Book' applications (download only).
Q: Do I need special drivers to print to MPrint?
A: Brother provides printer drivers for all supported PC-based Windows operating systems. Handheld operating systems (Windows Mobile, PalmOS, BlackBerry) do not support printer drivers as the PC-based systems do.

To print Word documents, PDF files, or other standard file formats from a handheld device, users generally have to do one of two things: open a separate utility to print their documents or labels, or sync up to their desktop PC and print from there.

Q: How do I print from my mobile application?
A: For PC-based applications, printing to MPrint or any mobile printer is no different than printing to a desktop printer. Your application uses the standard Windows printer driver that is supplied with the printer.

PDA, Smartphone, and BlackBerry applications generally require a 'printer driver' to be written for each mobile printer. Brother supports this process by providing software development kits (SDKs) for all the supported operating systems.

Q: What SDKs are available for MPrint?
A: Brother provides SDKs for all the supported Windows, PocketPC, Windows Mobile, and BlackBerry operating systems, and an SDK for .NET Compact Framework development. These are available on our Web site by selecting the 'Software Developers' menu option.

For the Palm OS, Brother licenses the PrintBoy SDK from Bachmann Software. It can be downloaded at www.bachmannsoftware.com. All SDKs are provided free of charge.

Q: What are the benefits of mobile printing?
A: There are several general benefits of mobile printing:
  • Immediate results - Print receipts, order confirmations, invoices, certification and inspection labels, maintenance and repair reports, medical test results, patient instructions, and more - where they are needed.
  • Increased efficiency and customer satisfaction - On-site printing can improve field worker productivity and responsiveness to customers.
