NB-80c

Up to 256 Brilliant Colors

Browsing the Internet? Creating a newsletter? Do it in color with the Geobook NB-80c. The NB-80c includes a 10.4""backlitVGA color display that can display up to 256 colors.

New Alps Touch Pad

The NB-80c features a new touch pad that allowsusers to easily glide their finger across the pad surface to controlcursor movement on the screen. In addition, users can attach a serialmouse to the Geobook via the serial port.

Enhanced Memory Management

Accessing data and displaying images has never been faster due to the enhanced Memory Management used in the NB-80c.

Full PC compatibility

Notebook users know the importance of file compatibility.That's why the BrotherWorks '98 Software Suite, the software installedon the NB-80c, is also shipped on CD- Rom inside every NB-80c carton.Installing the CD-Rom version in a PC provides full file compatibility between GeoBook and PC, including formatting, graphics, and layout. You can even import and export files to your favorite programs like,Word, Word Perfect or even Excel.

Access the Web and Email

The NB-80c has been preconfigured to dial intoEarthLink, a national Internet Service Provider (ISP) with dial-uplocations throughout the United States. This out of the box solutionprovides users with the easiest way to go on the "Net". However,if users would like to subscribe to a different ISP, they simplycontact the ISP they wish to subscribe to and ask them to providethe necessary set up information.

Create and Present Slide Shows

With the optional Slide Show Presentation softwarepackage, you can create high quality presentations or even viewor display PowerPoint Files. The presentation can be viewed right on the GeoBook color display or even with a color projector by using the VGA out on the back of the GeoBook. Users can import graphicsin BMP, TIFF, PCX, and GIF file formats and choose from a varietyof fonts, text sizes, styles, and colors to customize presentations.

Internet

This application offers TCP/IP connection to the Internet. The connection is made through the built-in modem.In order to use the Internet application, you must subscribe to anInternet Service Provider. GeoBook has been pre-configured to work with the Earth Link Network. Brother users who subscribe to Earth Link with have the $25 sign up fee waived. However, you may select adifferent ISP if you wish. (except software dependent ISPs suchas AOL, CompuServe,etc.) The Brother GlobeHopper browser provides browsing of the Internet. In addition, the E-mailer program allows you easily send and receive Internet E-mail messages.

GlobeHopper™ Net Browser

This graphical browser offers color viewing of home pages on the World Wide Web. Moving to each URL is simple. You can view, download or print data directly from the Internet.

Globehopper™ E-Mail

The Emailer application is one of the featuresused most of ten on GeoBook. Keeping in touch has never been easieror less expensive. Once you have subscribed to an Internet Service Provider,and receive an E-Mail address, you can begin to send and receiveE-mail. Although you cannot use AOL, CompuServe or Prodigy as your ISP you can certainly send and receive E-mail to subscribers of those ISPs. After selecting the emailer application you can composea message, attach a file to it if you wish and send it to anyone who has an Internet e-mail address. When receiving your mail, you can read it, save it, forward it to someone else, print it or delete it.

PC Compatibility

Import or export files in ASCII, MS Word, WordPerfect, WordStar or Lotus 1-2-3 file formats. And by loading the included CD-ROM version of BrotherWorks '98 on to your PC, you will have perfect compatibility between the GeoBook and your desktop PC. Brother Works'98 runs under Windows for full compatibility including formatting,layout and images. In addition, the standard 3.5"" 1.44 MB floppydisk drive provides unlimited storage.

Communications

You can use the built-in modem to communicate with computers or bulletin board systems. You can share data withothers who are using a computing device with a communications package. Thecommunication application allows you to set and store your systemparameters for communicating.

Slide Show Presentation Software

The easiest way to present your ideas on thego!

With this optional software package users cancreate and view professional presentations. The Slide Show presentation scan be created and viewed on a GeoBook or attach the GeoBook to a full size monitor or LCD projector for group presentations. Also included is a PowerPoint file viewer which allows you to createa presentation on your PC and view it or display it on the GeoBook. Taking PowerPoint presentations on the road has never been easieror more afford able. The two applications available with this software are Slide Show Creator and Slide Show Viewer.

The Slide Show presentations can be viewed on the GeoBook 10.4"" color display, a VGA CRT display, or the GeoBook can be attached to a projector and the slide show displayed to alarger audience. Slide Show Creator

Slide Show Viewer
This application allows users to view a filecreated by using the Microsoft PowerPoint software application.Once the file is created on the PC in PowerPoint, the conversionsoftware converts the PPT file into GIF files. The GIF files are then saved to disk. That disk is inserted into the GeoBook when presenting the slide show.

Clip Art Images

A variety of clip art images are provided onone of the disks that comes with GeoBook. In addition, BMP, PCX,GIF and TIFF format images can be imported into GeoBook. All images arestored as a page in the scrapbook area. When you want to includean image in your document, the image is copied from the scrapbookinto the file.
