How do I clear the message "Back Cover Open" from the LCD display?

Description of Solution 200000004779

To clear the message "Back Cover Open" from the LCD, follow the steps listed below:

1. Turn the Brother machine around with the back of the machine facing you.

2. If the back cover is open, close it securely. The LCD should return to the normal display.

- If the LCD still displays "Back Cover Open", continue to STEP 3.

- If the LCD shows the normal display, the issue is resolved.

3. Open the back cover.

4. The black plastic inner chute should spring open automatically when the back cover is opened.

NOTE: The inner chute has a diagram on it of a piece of paper being removed from the unit.

5. If there is paper inside the machine carefully remove it.  Look for and remove any small scraps you see.  Verify if paper is wrapped tightly around the orange roller and can't be removed.

- If the paper is NOT wrapped tightly around the orange roller, continue to STEP 6.

- If the paper is wrapped tightly around the orange roller, do not attempt further removal.  Proceed to WARRANTY AND SERVICE OPTIONS below.

6. Close the back cover.

NOTE: The inner chute will close automatically when the back door is closed.

- If the LCD still displays "Back Cover Open", continue to STEP 7.

- If the LCD shows the normal display, the issue is resolved.

7. Open the front cover.

8. Pull out the toner and drum assembly.

NOTE: We recommend to place the toner and drum assembly on a piece of paper in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner.

 9. Hold down the blue lock lever on the left side of the drum assembly and lift the toner out of the drum unit. Carefully look for and remove any found paper in the machine or in the toner and drum assembly. This includes small pieces of paper or debris.

 10. Reinsert the toner cartridge in the drum unit until it clicks into place. If you put it in properly, the lock lever will lift automatically. Place the drum unit and toner cartridge back into the machine. Close the front cover.

 - If the LCD still displays "Back Cover Open", continue to WARRANTY AND SERVICE OPTIONS.

- If the LCD shows the normal display, the issue is resolved.
