How do I clear the message "Machine Error 71" from the display? ME71Description of Solution 200000004810
The message "Open Cover or Machine error 71" will appear on the display if there is a mechanical malfunction of the Brother machine
Turn OFF the Brother machine's power switch (located on the right side of the machine), wait approximately 30 seconds and then turn the switch back ON. If the error message continues to appear on the display, wait several minutes and then try powering the machine Off and On again.
NOTE: The Brother machine can be powered OFF for up to 4 days without losing faxes in memory.
If the date and time appear on the display, then the issue is resolved.
If the message continues to appear on the display and your machine is still within warranty, you can locate a Brother Authorized Service Center (ASC) in your area using one of the following:
