Description of Solution 200000020501

1. Check if there is an error message on the PC screen.  It could be that the tape inside the machine does not match the tape Size selected in the software.

2. Turn off the machine.

3. Disconnect the USB cable from the machine.

4. Open the side cover and remove the cassette tape.

5. Examine the tape exit area; ensure there are no pieces of tape jammed in side the machine.

6. Examine the cassette tape; ensure there are no vertical black stripes on the tape.  If there are, the cassette tape is empty, needs to be replaced.

7. Reinstall the cassette tape and close cover.

8. Power on the machine without the USB cable connected to the machine.

If the LED stops flashing and remain lit:

a. Power off the machine.

b. Move the mode switch at the back of the machine to the EL (up) position.

c. Reconnect USB cable to PC.

d. Power on the machine and check if the machine can print out a label.

If the LED continues to flash (without the USB cable connected):

a. Power off the machine.

b. Move the mode switch at the back of the machine to the E (down) position.

Note: Ensure to download and install the Driver that matches your Window Operating System type.

d. Go to the below link and download the “P-touch Editor Lite Update Tool for the E mode” to your PC Desktop.  This tool can be used with Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7.

e. Remove the cassette tape from the machine (important).

f. Ensure the machine is turn OFF and the USB cable is connected directly to the PC (Do not use a HUB).

g. Double click on the file pl1230w######.exe you have just downloaded onto your desktop.  A P-touch Editor Lite Update Tool dialog box will appear.

h. Hold down the On/Off button for 5 seconds (the LED turns on) and then release the button.  The LED should be blinking two times for every second.

i. Click on Start and then Update.

j. Click Yes; the PC will begin to transfer data to the machine (Do not turn off the machine during data transfer).

k. After the transfer reaches 100%, the below dialog appear for few second.

l. Then another dialog box appears. Turn off P-touch machine and then click “OK”, to close the program.

m. Turn on the machine; the LED should not be flashing.  Try printing out a label with P-touch Editor 5.0 (E mode) or P-touch Editor Lite (EL mode).

Note: If an error occurred during the update operation or if the operation was not completed successfully, try performing the operation again from the beginning.  If the update operation cannot be completed successfully after multiple attempts, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver again and connect the USB cable directly to another USB port of the PC (Do not use a HUB).
