How can I improve my Brother machine's copy quality?

Listed below are instructions for various adjustments that can be made to improve the copy quality:

 

- If you would like to adjust the general copy quality, please refer to SECTION 1.

 

- If you would like the copies you make to be lighter or darker, please refer to SECTION 2.

 

- If you would like the copies you make to be sharper and more vivid, please refer to SECTION 3.

 

SECTION 1: COPY QUALITY SETTING

 

Your Brother machine offers a range of Copy Quality settings. Each setting is appropriate for copying a different type of document.

 

- Auto: This setting is suitable for copying documents that contain both text and photographs. This is the default setting.

 

- Text: This setting is recommended for copying text-only documents.

 

- Photo: This setting is recommended for copying photographs.

 

- Graph: Suitable for copying receipts.

 

You can adjust Copy Quality for your next copy job or for all copy jobs.

 

CHANGING COPY QUALITY FOR THE NEXT COPY JOB ONLY

 

1. Load your document by doing one of the following:

 

- Place the document you want to copy into the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) face up, top edge first.

 

OR

 

- Place the document you want to copy face down on the flat scanner glass.

 

2. Use the numeric keys to enter the number of copies you want to make (up to 99).

 

3. Press the OPTIONS key.

 

4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Quality.

 

5. Press OK.

 

6. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Auto, Text, Photo, or Graph.

 

7. Press OK.

 

8. Press the START key to begin copying.

 

CHANGING THE DEFAULT COPY QUALITY SETTING

 

1. Press MENU, 2 (Copy), 1 (Quality).

 

2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Auto, Text, Photo, or Graph.

 

3. Press OK.

 

4. Press STOP/EXIT.

 

SECTION 2: COPY BRIGHTNESS

 

You can adjust your Brother machine's Copy Brightness to make your copies darker or lighter.

 

You can adjust Copy Brightness for your next copy job or for all copy jobs.

 

CHANGING COPY BRIGHTNESS FOR THE NEXT COPY JOB ONLY

 

1. Load your document by doing one of the following:

 

- Place the document you want to copy into the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) face up, top edge first.

 

OR

 

Place the document you want to copy face down on the flat scanner glass.

 

2. Use the numeric keys to enter the number of copies you want to make (up to 99).

CHANGING THE DEFAULT COPY BRIGHTNESS SETTING

- Press the RIGHT ARROW key to make a lighter copy.

 

OR

 

- Press the LEFT ARROW key to make a darker copy.

 

3. Press OK.

 

4. Press the STOP/EXIT key to exit the menu.

 

SECTION 3: COPY CONTRAST

 

You can make your copied images look sharper and more vivid by adjusting your Brother machine's Copy Contrast setting.

 

You can adjust Copy Contrast for your next copy job or for all copy jobs.

 

CHANGING COPY CONTRAST FOR THE NEXT COPY JOB ONLY

 

1. Load your document by doing one of the following:

 

- Place the document you want to copy into the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) face up, top edge first.

 

OR

 

- Place the document you want to copy face down on the flat scanner glass.

 

2. Use the numeric keys to enter the number of copies you want to make (up to 99).

 

3. Press the OPTIONS key.

 

4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Contrast.

 

5. Press OK.

 

6. Do one of the following:

 

- Press the RIGHT ARROW key to increase the contrast.

 

OR

 

- Press the LEFT ARROW key to decrease the contrast.

 

7. Press OK.

 

8. Press the START key to begin copying.

 

CHANGING THE DEFAULT COPY CONTRAST SETTING

 

1. Press MENU, 2 (Copy), 3 (Contrast).

 

2. Do one of the following:

 

- Press the RIGHT ARROW key to increase the contrast.

 

OR

 

- Press the LEFT ARROW key to decrease the contrast.

 

3. Press OK.

 

4. Press STOP/EXIT.
