Ensure that you are logged on to your computer with Administrator rights.
If you are using a personal firewall (other than Windows Firewall),
anti-spyware, or antivirus applications, temporarily disable them.
If you have the supplied CD-ROM, verify the CD-ROM lists the operating system
installed on your computer.
If the operating system installed on your computer is listed on the CD-ROM, go
to STEP 6.
If you do not have the supplied CD-ROM or the operating system installed on your
computer is not listed on the CD-ROM, you will need to download the software
from the Brother web site. Continue to STEP
instructions on how to navigate the Brother website to download the software,
the temporary folder you save the downloaded file to and double click on the

be prompted to select an option for firmware update notification. Make
your selection and click OK.
Internet access is required for any firmware upgrades.
20. Setup is
Wireless Device Setup
If the Wireless
Device Setup screen appears:
- The printer
is not connected to the same network as your computer
- A firewall
may be blocking the printer

CANCEL key to return the printer to "Ready".
f. Wait 1 minute. It is very important to wait 1 minute before continuing.
If you do not wait at least 1 minute, the Brother machine may not have enough
time to join the network and receive an IP address.
g. Print the
Printer Settings by pressing the OK key 3 times. Look at the last page
and verify the Interface is WirelessLAN on.
3. Locate the
Name (SSID) near the bottom and confirm it is the name network your
computer is currently connected to.
4. In the
bottom right corner of your computer screen (near the time), you may see a
wireless network icon. If you hover your mouse over the icon or click the
icon, it will list the wireless network the computer is currently connected
network must match the Name
(SSID) listed on the
Printer Settings page; otherwise, the printer is not connected to the same
network and will not be able to print.
- If you had
to change your computer to match the network the printer was on, go to STEP 6 below.
