How do I clear the message "No Paper Fed" from the display?

Description of Solution 200000040495

1. Are you setting the machine up for the first time?

-      If yes, go to STEP 3.

-      If no, continue to STEP 2.

2. Are you printing from the manual feed slot located on in the back of the machine?

-      If yes, go to STEP 4.

-      If no, go to STEP 5.

-

3.  There are two paper trays available with the Brother machine; Tray#1 and Tray#2;

-         Tray#1 is located directly below the control panel and Tray#2 is located below Tray#1.

When setting the machine up for the first time, the machine will print a test sheet after the ink cartridges have been installed. The test sheet will only print from Tray#1 and 8.5 x 11 letter size paper must be loaded in the tray.

-      If you have  8.5 x 11 letter size paper in Tray#1 continue to STEP 5.

-         If you do not have 8.5 x 11 letter size paper in Tray#1 or are not sure, continue to STEP 3a.

a.    Remove Tray#1 - Place your hand into the 5 inch rectangular opening slot located below the LCD display (control panel).

b.    Remove the paper tray from the machine. You may have to use a small amount of force to remove the tray.

  1. Open the output paper tray cover (1).

d. Gently press and slide the paper guides (1) to fit the paper you're loading.

- Make sure the triangular mark (2) on the paper guide (1) lines up with the mark for Letter size paper size (LTR).

e. Fan the stack of paper well to avoid jams and misfeeds.

NOTE:  Make sure the paper is not curled or wrinkled.

f. Gently place the letter size paper into the tray print side down and top edge first.

- Make sure the paper is in Landscape orientation (short ends of the paper on the left and right side of the tray).

- Do not push the paper too far into the tray.  If you do, the paper may lift at the back of the tray and cause feed problems.

g. Gently adjust the paper guides to fit the paper.

- Make sure the paper guides touch the edges of the paper.

- Make sure the paper is flat in the tray and below the maximum paper mark (1).

h. Close the output tray cover.

i. Slowly push the paper tray completely into the machine.

j. While holding the paper tray in place, pull out the paper support (1) until it clicks, then unfold the paper support flap (2).

k. Press OK. A Print Quality Check Sheet will print. The issue should be resolved. You can continue setting up the machine.

-         If the problem continues go to STEP 5.

4. Manual Feed: You can load special print media into your Brother machine's manual feed slot.  Use the manual feed slot to print or copy on Ledger, A3, Legal, Letter, A4, Executive, A5, A6, Photo (4 x 6 in.), Photo L (3.5 x 5 in.), and Photo 2L (5 x 7 in.) paper.  You can also use the manual feed slot to print or copy on envelopes and index cards.

- You must hold up the paper as it feeds into the manual feed slot.  The manual feed slot does not have a paper support.

- You can only load one sheet of media into the manual feed slot at one time.

- If you are printing on paper larger than Letter (8.5 x 11 in.) size, you must use the manual feed slot.

- If you are printing on 6.4 x 9 in. envelopes, you must use the manual feed slot.

NOTE:

- The machine automatically turns on Manual Feed Mode when you put paper in the manual feed slot.

- If you are using paper that is longer than Letter size or envelopes with the flap on the short edge, close the paper support flap located in the front of the machine. See image below.

  1. Open the manual feed slot cover.

  1. Slide the manual feed slot paper guides to match the width of the paper you are going to use.

NOTE:

- The paper mark in portrait orientation (1) is on the right side of the manual feed slot.

The paper mark in landscape orientation (2) is on the left side of the manual feed slot.

When you slide the paper guides, confirm that they are in these positions.

  1. Put only one sheet of paper into the manual feed slot. Even if you are printing multiple pages, do not feed the next sheet of paper into the manual feed slot until the touchscreen instructs you to do so.

-      If you are using Letter, Executive, or A4 paper, you must insert the sheet in landscape orientation. (the two shorter edges of the sheet are on the left and right side) See image below.

-      If you are using Ledger, A3, Legal, A5, A6, Photo, Photo L, Photo 2L paper; envelopes; or index cards, insert the sheet in portrait orientation. (the two longer edges of the sheet are on the left and right side) See image below.

-      Make sure the side to be printed is face up.

IMPORTANT:

- Do not put more than one sheet of paper in the manual feed slot at any one time.

- Do not put paper in the manual feed slot when you are printing from the paper tray.  Doing this may cause a paper jam.

  1. Using both hands, gently adjust the manual feed slot paper guides to fit the paper.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

-      Do not press the paper guides too tightly against the paper.  Doing this may cause the paper to fold.

-      Place the paper in the center of the manual feed slot between the paper guides.  If the paper is not centered, pull it out and insert it again at the center position.

  1. Using both hands, put one sheet of paper into the manual feed slot until the front edge touches the paper feed roller.

-      Let go of the paper when you hear the machine pull it in a short distance.  The LCD will briefly read Manual Feed Slot ready.

NOTE:

When loading an envelope or sheet of thick paper, push the envelope into the manual feed slot until you feel the machine grab the envelope or paper.

When you are feeding Legal, Ledger, or A3 size paper into the manual feed slot, the machine holds the printed page after printing so that the page does not fall.  Once printing is complete, pull out the printed page and press OK.

f. The machine will print the page.

If the data does not print on one sheet, the LCD will prompt you to load another sheet of paper.  Follow these steps:

i.Place another sheet of paper in the manual feed slot.

             ii.Press OK.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure the machine has finished printing before you close the manual feed slot cover.
