The machine does not turn on (no power) when using the BAE001 Li-ion battery pack, how can I correct this?

1. Does the machine works with the AC power adapter? If no, ensure the label on the adapter indicates that it is an ADE001, a Switching Adapter with an Output of 12V 2A. The label should also indicate the + POSITIVE and the - NEGATIVE contacts of the adapter plug.  The outside surface of the tip at the end of the plug should be + POSITIVE and the inside contact should be - NEGATIVE.  Using a wrong adapter can cause the BAE001 battery pack to not charge correctly and/or DAMAGE the machine internally, which is not covered by the warranty.  You can order the adapter ADE001 directly from Brother Accessory Sales Department at 1-877-552-6255 or at our website at http://www.brothermall.com.     

 

 

If the machine does not turn on with the ADE001 adapter, remove the battery pack and try power up the machine with 6 “AA” alkaline batteries (ensure that the adapter plug is disconnected from the machine).  If the machine turns on, the adapter could be bad.

 

2. If the machine works with the ADE001 adapter, remove the back cover and lift up the Li-ion battery pack from the machine.  Examine the 3 battery contacts inside the machine to see if there are any abnormalities.  They should have a bright gold metallic appearance and look exactly the same next to each other.  

 

 

Next examine the 3 contacts at the end of the Li-ion battery pack.  They should also have a  bright gold metallic appearance.  Re-install the battery pack into the machine, push down on top of the battery; ensure that it is seated firmly in the battery compartment and close the cover.

 

3. Is the BA001 battery pack fully charged? The battery level indicator on the display should shows at least half charged.  If no, let the battery pack charge for 6 hours and then test the machine.

 

 

4. If the machine does not turn on after charging the battery for 6 hours, the battery pack could be bad.  Try replacing the battery pack (BAE001).

 

Note: The battery pack BAE001 has a 90 day warranty.

 

If the problem persists, your machine may require service.

 

The machine has a two year limited exchange warranty. If the machine is in warranty, call Brother Customer Service at 1-877-Brother (1-877-276-8437) for warranty options.
