Rated 4 out of 5 by from Low-cost, SMB-friendly, with only a quirk or two. Brother's top-of-the-line model, and it seems like a decent machine for medium-volume MFP. I set this up in a 5-user small office, running on Windows 10 workstations and a few Android tablets. They wanted high-reliability network scanning, low consumable cost and general ease-of-use. The Control Center software is a great option for getting scan-to-desktop functionality running with minimal fuss for both admins and users. The 7" display is great, making walk-up use very easy for all users, even those with only moderate eyesight. General operation speed is good or better. The only con I can think of at this stage would be under-developed paper handling, one example being envelopes, which can only be run through the media bypass tray, and the user must open a rear access panel, flick 2 gray levers into place, then print the envelopes, then revert that procedure before printing normal paper again... I almost did a double-take when I saw that in the manual. IMHO, it's almost laughable when competing alternatives in the same product space allow for envelope storage in regular paper trays and don't require manual jockeying with levers of any kind... So paper handling is definitely a place where Brother could improve. As for wear-based parts, only time will tell if the print head and feeder mechanisms will withstand medium-duty use. I would assume they will, but I'll modify this review if that's not the case. Overall, I'd specify 4.25 out of 5 stars if I could -- a great option as long as you know your use-case and are going for ease-of-use and low cost more than specific paper handling or finishing.
