Five Questions With: Brother Crafts Ambassador Erin Bassett

What is your favorite crafting season and why?
I'm really a year-around crafter, but if I had to pick one it would be summer. I have extra free time and get to spend a lot of it with my nieces and nephews. They love to craft and create things too, so it’s a great opportunity to do some kid friendly crafting!

What was the last thing you created for a friend?
I love making my nails look great at all times, so I made some cuticle oil for my nail friends. Then I created these cute custom DIY labels for the bottles. I used my Brother ScanNCut to cut them out, and made my friends some adorable custom bottles for their cuticle oil!

What is your favorite Brother accessory?
I love craft vinyl! The ability to personalize crafts for my home and gifts is so fun and easy! I create a lot of my own designs, either on paper or digitally, so most of my creations are one of a kind - unless I share the files with all of you! I'm a big labeler too, so I use it so often for that! Labels are a great way to make everything look neat and organized.

What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out in crafting?
Just create for the fun of creating, and don't compare yourself to others. This is supposed to be a hobby you enjoy, and comparison will steal the fun out of it! Also, find crafty friends! We always have extra supplies and surprisingly, it's not that easy to find places to donate to on a consistent basis. Crafting friends will love knowing that the supplies they are no longer using are going to a good home.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not crafting?
I love to spend time in the kitchen cooking and baking for our family and friends. We also have two dogs and a cat so I'll take all the snuggle time and hiking adventures with our dogs that I can!
