EPEAT

EPEAT is an environmental rating and ecolabel that helps purchasers in the public and private sectors evaluate, compare, and select imaging equipment based on its environmental attributes. EPEAT registered imaging products must meet an extensive list of environmental based criteria covered in the IEEE 1680.2 Standards for Environmental Assessment of Imaging Equipment.

End-of-Life Characterization Reports 4.3.4.1

Brother provides end-of-life characterization reports upon request to reuse and recycling facilities for the effective processing of materials identified in EU WEEE Directive 2002/96/EC, Annex II. Early Failure Process 4.4.1.1

Information to assist with troubleshooting, repair or replacement of a product is available from the support section for each product category site. General assistance is available from Brother Customer Support at 1(877) 276-8437.

Spare Parts 4.4.3.1

Spare parts for Brother printers, scanners, and multi-function devices are available for seven (7) years alter product production ceases. Contact your sales representative or Brother Customer Support at 1(877) 276-8437.

Product take-back and end-of-life processing requirements 4.6.1.1, 4.6.1.2, 4.6.2.1

Brother is committed to reducing landfill waste by reusing parts, recycling materials, and conserving energy. All devices collected through Brother’s take-back programs at the end-of-life are sent to our certified recyclers with nothing going to landfill.

Non-fiber-based packaging take-back 4.8.4.1

Brother is pleased to offer take-back services of non-fiber-based packaging for all Brother products to institutional purchasers. We strongly encourage recycling of plastic packaging locally to eliminate additional greenhouse gas emissions associated with transportation to our recycling facility. Use of recycled and chlorine-free paper 4.9.1.1

Brother printers and multi-function devices are designed to work with paper made with renewable, recycled and chlorine-free content. Using paper made with these contents will not void the Brother warranty.

Non-OEM consumables 4.9.2.1

Brother printers and multi-function devices are not designed to prevent the use of non-Brother cartridges and non-Brother containers. However, while Brother devices are flexible in the cartridges and containers they accept, Brother genuine cartridges, containers and supplies are strongly recommended for optimal performance, quality, and reliability.

Through Steps 1 to 4 of the CSR Procurement Level-up Program—described in the "CSR Procurement Efforts" section—Brother requires our suppliers to comply with the RBA Code of Conduct.

Criterion 7.1.3: Social responsibility performance audits of high-risk suppliers

RBA Code of Conduct and Supplier Awareness[
The Brother Group requests suppliers supporting its Printing & Solutions business to understand and comply with the RBA Code of Conduct. To support understanding and implementation, Brother provides supplementary guidance outlining its expectations and areas in which supplier cooperation is requested. Supplier commitment to these activities is confirmed through signed Confirmation Forms.
CSR Procurement audit activities
The Brother Group conducts CSR questionnaires covering five areas: labor, health and safety, environment, ethics, and management systems, to assess supplier compliance with the RBA Code of Conduct.
Where risks are identified through the CSR questionnaire, Brother requests appropriate improvements. Brother Group auditors also conduct CSR procurement audits of supplier manufacturing facilities and require corrective actions for identified nonconformities.
  • FY2024: 114 suppliers were assessed through the CSR questionnaire, and 37 suppliers were audited.
  • FY2025: 87 suppliers were assessed through the CSR questionnaire, and 56 suppliers were audited.
For each nonconformity identified through an audit, Brother Group auditors explain the issue and the measures required for compliance and request that the supplier implement appropriate corrective actions.
Through these activities, the Brother Group works with its suppliers to promote compliance with the RBA Code of Conduct.

EPEAT Supplier Risk Assessment
Beginning in FY2026, Brother annually identifies suppliers associated with Brother EPEAT-registered imaging equipment based on applicable transaction records.
Brother assessed and confirmed that all identified supplier facilities are located in regions or countries where qualified, independent third-party audits can be performed as part of credible forced-labor due diligence processes, with reference to the Global Slavery Index.
All listed supplier facilities are evaluated using the RBA Risk Assessment Platform (RAP) to identify potential high-risk indicators. Supplier facilities identified as potentially high risk are required to complete a Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) or provide their existing online SAQ results. Brother reviews the SAQ results to identify high-risk supplier facilities, which are designated as “Prioritized” and subject to audit.
Prioritized Supplier Audits and FY2026 Results
Supplier facilities designated as “Prioritized” through the RAP/SAQ assessment process are subject to an RBA Validated Assessment Program (VAP) audit or another audit program specified under EPEAT 2.0 Responsible Supply Chains Criterion 7.1.3.
Based on the FY2026 assessment, no supplier facilities were designated as Prioritized; therefore, no supplier audits were required
Confirmation of compliance and assessment
Since FY2026, Brother annually lists all suppliers for the Brother EPEAT registered imaging equipments, using transaction records. It is confirmed there is no supplier facility located in regions or countries where qualified, independent, third-party audits cannot be performed as part of credible forced labor due diligence processes in accordance with Global Slavery Index.
Assessment procedure to Determine Prioritized Supplier Facilities
All listed supplier facilities are evaluated using the RBA Risk Assessment Platform (RAP), and supplier facilities with potential high-risk indicators are identified.

The identified potential high risk supplier facilities are requested either to complete SAQ or provide SAQ online result. Brother confirms the SAQ score of each and identifies the high-risk supplier facilities as “Prioritized and subject to audit.

Prioritized supplier facility identified by RAP/SAQ assessment shall have RBA-VAP audit or other audit program described in EPEAT2.0 Responsible Supply Chains Criterion 7.1.3.
In 2026 assessment, there were no prioritized supplier facilities and then no audit was carried out.
