with temporary adhesive spray Tear-away vinyl for topping When embroidering letters or monograms to a project, it is very important that the placement is right where I want it. I am embroidering the word "NAILS" to be used for a bag to hold my nail polish for travel.

Preparing

Start by changing the sewing machine needle to a #14 denim jean needle and thread the machine with metallic thread. Use standard bobbin thread for the bobbin and choose a color similar to the fabric or the color of the metallic thread. I'm using a cotton sateen fabric. This fabric has a 4% stretch and a light sheen to the fabric. I applied a fusible interfacing to the back of the fabric before I began for added stability and to keep it from stretching out of shape. If I were to hoop this fabric, I'd run the risk of hoop markings. To be safe I am not going to hoop the fabric. Instead, hoop the medium weight adhesive tear-away stabilizer. Score the paper and place the fabric onto the stabilizer. Line up the center of the fabric with the center of the hoop. Add letters and adjust the size. Scan in the fabric using the Innoveye®2 Technology so you can see the center chalked position. Use the Droplight™ LED Embroidery positioning marker to line up your placement. On the screen, change the color of the thread to match the metallic thread. Rotate and move the design around as needed until it's placed where you want it. Add a tear-away vinyl topping onto the hoop as shown in the video.

Embroidering

Embroider the letters twice for extra fullness. That’s it! Simply remove the basting stitches and tear-away the embroidery backing and vinyl topping. The fabric is ready to go.
