Make Your Own Mr. And Mrs. Wedding Pillows
A pillow is a wonderful way to give the gift of handmade especially when it is personalized! This is an easy DIY gift that anyone can do- especially with the BROTHER Pacesetter
line up!
You can use store bought photo fabric paper and print the hi-res image on it, or, send the hi-res jpegs to a business that specializes in fabric printing. I like to work with contrado.com- they print on multiple fabric types and in any size you select, plus their turn around time is great.
Depending on the size of the pillow form, measure and cut your coordinating fabric. This will be used for the back of the pillowcase.
Idea: if you have a brother embroidery machine you can add the couple’s initials or last name on the back.
Serge the edges of the printed fabric and coordinating fabric.
Sew in the zipper by starting with the slider of the zipper open and placing the stringer (that’s the tape and teeth from one side of a zipper), zipper side down on top of the printed fabric which should be photo side up. Pin in place.
With the zipper foot on your sewing machine, sew the zipper in place. Do the same with the other side of the zipper on the decorative piece of fabric.
With the zipper sewn in place, lay the fabric pieces right sides together and pin. Open the zipper halfway and stitch all the way around the remaining 3 sides of the pillowcase.
Clip the corners to eliminate the bulk and turn right side out.
Put the new cover over your pillow form. I like it add extra stuffing into the pillow form to give it a little more fullness.
Zip-up the opening of the new pillow, and you’re finished.
