How do I adjust the various volume settings on my machine?

Description of Solution 200000008046

Your Brother machine has four adjustable volume settings: Ring Volume, Beeper Volume, Speaker Volume, and Handset Volume.

SETTING RING VOLUME

You can adjust the Ring Volume setting while your Brother machine is idle by pressing the UP OR DOWN ARROW key.

- With each key press, the machine rings so you can hear the current setting.

- Each key press changes the volume to the next setting and the LCD displays the setting you are choosing.

NOTE: The LCD will not display "Off" when Ring Volume is off.  Instead, the machine will not ring when you press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key.

- The new volume setting will remain active until you change it again.

SETTING BEEPER VOLUME

You can set your Brother machine's Beeper Volume to Low, High, or Off.  When the Beeper Volume is set to Low or High, the machine beeps every time you press a key or make an error, and at the end of the sending and receiving processes.

To set the machine's Beeper Volume, follow these steps:

1. Press MENU/SET, 1 (Initial Setup), 3 (Beeper).

2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select a setting.

- You can select Low, High, or Off.

3. Press the MENU/SET key.

4. Press the STOP/EXIT key.

SETTING SPEAKER VOLUME

To set the machine's Speaker Volume, follow these steps:

1. Press the HOOK key.

2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select a setting.

- You can select Low, High, or Off.

- Each key press changes the volume to the next setting and the LCD displays the setting you are choosing.

- The new volume setting will remain active until you change it again.

VOLUME AMPLIFY FOR THE HEARING-IMPAIRED

If one or more people who are hearing-impaired use the machine, you may turn its Volume Amplify feature on.  The amplified volume level complies with FCC standards.

These Volume Amplify settings are available:

VOLUME AMPLIFY: OFF This default setting is appropriate if none of the machine's users are hearing-impaired.

You can adjust the handset volume by pressing the UP OR DOWN ARROW key while you are talking on the handset.  The available volume settings are LOW and HIGH.  When you replace the handset, the handset volume will remain at the last setting you selected.

VOLUME AMPLIFY: ON  TEMPORARY This setting is appropriate if some of the machine's users are hearing-impaired.

You can adjust the handset volume by pressing the UP OR DOWN ARROW key while you are talking on the handset.  The available volume settings are LOW, HIGH, and AMPLIFY. When you replace the handset, the handset volume returns to LOW, its default setting.

VOLUME AMPLIFY: ON PERMANENT This setting is appropriate if all of the machine's users are hearing-impaired.

You can adjust the handset volume by pressing the UP OR DOWN ARROW key while you are talking on the handset.  The available volume settings are LOW, HIGH, and AMPLIFY.  When you replace the handset, the handset volume returns to AMPLIFY.

WARNING! It is important that you do not choose PERMANENT unless all of your Brother machine's users are hearing-impaired.  Otherwise, the default setting of AMPLIFY may damage the hearing of some users.
