The machine does not turn on (no power) when using an AC adapter, how can I correct this?

If the wrong power adapter is used, it can cause the machine not to power up.

1. The recommend adapter for this machine is the AD18 (part # LN9710001).

The label on the adapter should indicates that it is an AD18, a Switching Adapter with an Output of 12V 1.3A. The label should also indicate the + POSITIVE and the - NEGATIVE contacts of the adapter plug. The outside surface of the tip at the end of the plug should be + POSITIVE and the inside contact should be - NEGATIVE.

Using a wrong adapter can DAMAGE the machine internally and void the warranty. You can order the AD18 adapter part # LN9710001 directly from Brother Parts Department at 1-901-379-1080 or at our website at

2. Try connecting adapter to a different electrical outlet.

If the problem persists, your machine may require service.
