To clear the message Paper Jam Inside, follow the steps listed below:

 

NOTE: Be sure that a toner AND drum assembly is installed in the machine before continuing. A machine may exhibit a jam message if the drum isn't installed or isn't installed properly.

 

CAUTION: If you just used the machine some parts inside the machine are extremely hot

 

1. Pull the paper tray completely out of the machine.

 

 

2. Pull the jammed paper out of the paper tray opening.

 

-         If you are unable to remove the jammed paper continue to STEP 3.

 

-         If you are able to remove the jammed paper continue to STEP 9.

 

 

3. Open the front cover.

 

4. Pull out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. The jammed paper may be pulled out with the toner cartridge and drum unit assembly, or removing the drum and toner assembly may release the paper so you can pull it out of the paper tray opening.

 

 

a. If you are able to remove the drum assembly and jammed paper continue to STEP 5.

 

b. If you cannot remove the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly easily, do not use extra force. Refer to WARRANTY AND SERVICE OPTIONS below.

 

5. Place the drum unit on a drop cloth or large piece of disposable paper to avoid spilling and scattering the toner.

 

Hold down the green lock lever on the left side of the drum assembly and lift the toner out of the drum unit.

 

Examine the drum carefully for small pieces of paper that may be jammed inside.

 

6. Reinsert the toner cartridge in the drum unit until it clicks into place. If you put it in properly, the lock lever will lift automatically.

 

7. Place the drum unit and toner cartridge back into the machine. Use equal pressure on both sides of the drum unit when pushing it back into place. Make sure it clicks into place.

 

 

 

8. Close the front cover. Make sure it clicks into place.

 

9. Remove the paper in the paper tray.

 

10. Fan the stack of paper well to avoid paper jams or misfeeds.

 

11. Reload the paper in the paper tray. The tray can hold up to 250 sheets of 20 lb paper. Do not over fill the tray. There is a maximum paper mark located on the top of the right and left paper guide. It looks like a V cut out in the plastic.

 

 

NOTE: If you are using special paper and the machine has problems feeding it from the paper tray, try the paper again using the manual feed slot.

 

 

 

12. Put the paper tray firmly back into the machine and unfold the output paper tray support flap before using the machine.

 

13. Turn the Brother machine around with the back of the machine facing you.

 

14. Open the back cover by pulling on the tab toward you.

 

 

15. Look for the green label on the tab on the right side of the fuser cover and pull on the tab gently to release the fuser cover.

 

 

 

16. Check for any paper that might be jammed in or around the fuser assembly.

 

17. If there is paper in or around the fuser assembly gently remove it.

 

18. Examine the inside of the machine where the fuser assembly is for any foreign objects (paper clips, pieces of paper, etc) and remove them.

 

19. Close the fuser cover inside the machine and make sure it is in place correctly.

 

20. Close the back cover.

 

21. To test print the User Settings List:

 

a. Press MENU.

 

b. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select 1. General Setup.

 

c. Press OK.

 

d. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select 6. User Settings.

 

e. Press OK.

 

f. Press START.
