How do I add or install the optional lower paper tray and assign the default paper size for each tray? How can I print to Tray 2 or Tray 3?

If you have purchased the optional paper tray unit (LT300CL) for your Brother machine, please follow these steps to install and activate it.

 

1. Turn the Brother machine off using the power switch on the right side of the machine.

 

2. Disconnect the power cord and all interface cables from the back of the Brother machine.

 

3. Carefully lift the Brother machine with both hands and place it on top of the optional tray unit so that the alignment pins on the top of the optional tray unit are inserted into the guide holes on the bottom of the Brother machine.

 

4. Reconnect all cables and cords that were disconnected in STEP 2.

 

5. Turn the Brother machine on using the power switch located on the right side of the machine.

 

6. Once machine displays "Ready", press the DOWN ARROW key to select Paper Tray. Press OK.

 

7. Press the DOWN ARROW key to select Tray 2 Size. Press OK.

 

8. Press UP or DOWN ARROW key to select the paper size that is loaded in optional tray. Press OK to save the setting. Display will read "Accepted". Press CANCEL to exit the menu.

 

9. Follow the instructions below for your operating system to setup the optional tray in the printer driver.

 

Windows

Macintosh

 

 

Driver configuration for Windows users:

 

a. Open the Printers folder:

 

Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2: Click Start => Device and Printers.

 

Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008: Click Start => Control Panel => Hardware and Sound => Printers.

 

Windows XP and Windows Server 2003: Click Start => Printers and Faxes.

 

Windows 2000: Start => Settings => Printers.

 

b.  Open the Printer's Properties:

 

Windows 7: Right-click on the Brother Printer and select Printer Properties.

 

Windows Vista, XP, 2000: Right-click on the Brother Printer and select Properties.

  

c. Click the Accessories tab and click Auto Detect, once the lower tray has been detected then click Apply.

 

NOTE: Under certain conditions Auto Detect may not be available. If this situation occurs, you can manually add the options you have installed. In Available Options, select the option you have installed, click Add and then Apply.

 

 

NOTE: If the Paper Size is undefined or the same size paper is defined for each tray, the printer will automatically print from the next available paper tray if the paper tray becomes empty.

 

d. To print to Tray 2 or Tray 3:

 

i. Open the document you wish to print.

 

ii. Click File and Print.

 

iii. Click Properties next to the printer name.

 

iv. Next to Paper Source, select the desired paper tray. Click OK.

 

v. Click OK or Print.

 

 

For Macintosh users:

The printer driver is already configured for use with the lower paper trays. No additional steps are required.

 

To print to Tray 2 or Tray 3:

 

a. Open the document you wish to print.

 

b. Click File and Print.

 

c. Click on Copies & Pages.

 

NOTE: In some programs, Copies & Pages may not be listed. You may need to click on another button or tab before accessing Copies & Pages. For example, in the programs Illustrator and In Design you must click the Printer button at the bottom of the Print window to access the window that displays Copies & Pages.

 

NOTE: Mac OS 10.5 and 10.6: If Printer and Presets are the only options on the Print window, click the blue down arrow to the right of the printer name, this will expand the Print window. In some programs, Copies & Pages may not be listed, you will need to click the name of the Program near the middle of the window.

 

NOTE: Mac OS 10.7: If Printer and Presets are the only options on the Print window, click the Show Details button to the bottom, this will expand the Print window. In some programs, Copies & Pages may not be listed, you will need to click the name of the Program near the middle of the window.

 

 

 

d. For Macintosh OS 10.7:

 

i. Select Print Settings from the drop down list.

 

ii. Next to Paper Source, select the desired paper tray.

 

iii. Click Print.

 

For Macintosh OS 10.5 or 10.6:

 

i. Select Paper Feed from the drop down list.

 

ii. Next to All Pages From, select the desired paper tray.

 

iii. Click Print.
