Important information regarding your machine:

Go to the following web site to check if the machine was produced during the particular production period when the optional lower tray connector part was not available:

http://www.brother-usa.com/Support/lowertray/serialnumber.aspx

 -  If the database indicates the machine is missing the optional lower tray connector, contact Brother Customer Service at 1-866-236-6835.

 - If the database indicates the machine is not affected and the optional lower tray connector is installed, continue to next step.

I. INSTALL THE PAPER TRAY

1. Use the power switch to turn the Brother machine off.

2. Disconnect the power cord and all interface cables from the back of the Brother machine.

3. Carefully lift the Brother machine with both hands and place it on top of the optional tray unit so that the alignment pins on the top of the optional tray unit are inserted into the guide holes on the bottom of the Brother machine.

NOTE: If you want to install two lower tray units, first combine both optional tray units, and then place the Brother machine onto the lower tray unit. Reconnect all cables and power on the machine.

4. Reconnect all cables and cords that were disconnected in STEP 2.

5. Use the power switch to turn the Brother machine back on.
