Why is the machine not feeding the tape out?

Description of Solution 200000034240

1. Check that the cassette tape is not empty; there should be no vertical stripes, bars, or lines on the clear ribbon.  If there is, replace the cassette tape with a new one.

2. Check the model of power adapter; if the wrong power adapter is used, it can cause the machine not to feed the tape out.

The recommend adapter is the AD9000 or AD9100/9100ES.   Ensure the label on the adapter indicates that it is an AD9000 or AD9100/9100ES with an Output of 24V 2.5 Amp.

The label should also indicate the + POSITIVE and the - NEGATIVE contacts of the adapter plug.  The outside surface of the tip at the end of the plug should be - NEGATIVE and the inside contact should be + POSITIVE.  Using a wrong adapter can DAMAGE the machine internally, not covered by the warranty.  You can order the adapter directly from Brother Accessory Sales Department at 1-877-552-6255 or at our website at

3. Try another cassette tape, using the power adapter.
