This indicates that a Service Call Error has occurred. Perform the steps below to clear the error.

1. Turn the printer OFF. Wait a few seconds and then turn the printer ON. 

 

2. If the error continues, leave the machine with the power ON for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, turn the printer off, and then turn it back on.

 

- If the error there is no error indication, continue to STEP 3.

 

- If the error indication returns, go to STEP 4.

 

3.  Print out the Printer Settings page by pressing the GO button 3 times.

 

- If the error does not return, the issue is resolved.

 

- If the error indication returns, continue to STEP 4.

 

4. Turn the printer OFF and unplug the printer's power cable and other connections.

 

5. Open the panel (1) on the left rear side. Remove the metal shield (2) to access the memory slot.

 

 

6. Is there memory installed in the slot?

 

-If Yes, remove the memory by gently pressing the clips outward.  Tilt the memory chip away from the machine and remove by holding the edges of the memory and continue to STEP 7.

 

-If no additional memory is installed, replace the covers and go to STEP 10.

 

7. Plug the printer's power cable back into the rear of machine and power on.

 

- If the printer powers on normally, continue to STEP 8.

 

- If the error continues, go to STEP 11.

 

8. Turn the printer OFF and unplug the printer's power cable and other connections.

 

9. Hold the DIMM by the edges and align the notches in the DIMM with the protrusions in the slot. Insert the DIMM completely diagonally (1), then tilt it towards the machine until it clicks into place (2). Replace the covers.

 

 

10. Plug the printer's power cable back into the rear of machine and power on.

 

- If the printer powers on normally, the additional memory was not seated correctly previously.

 

- If the error continues with the memory reinstalled, you will need to replace the optional memory.

 

11. If the error continues to appear and your machine is within warranty, you can locate a Brother Authorized Service Center (ASC) in your area by clicking on the link below:
