How do I scan a multi-page document using the ControlCenter4 in Home Mode?

There are five scan options: Save, Print, Open with an Application, Send E-mail, and OCR.

 

1.    PC Scan setting area

 

2.    Image viewer

 

3.    Save button

 

4.    Print button

 

5.    Open with an Application button

 

6.    Send E-mail button

 

7.    OCR button

 

SCAN A DOCUMENT:

 

1. Open the ControlCenter4 by clicking Start => (All) Programs => Brother => XXX-XXXX => ControlCenter4. The ControlCenter4 application will be loaded in the Task Tray near the system clock.

2. Right-click on the ControlCenter4 icon  located in the Task Tray and left-click on Open.

 

3. Place the document to be scanned on the Flatbed or Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) depending on your model.

 

4. While on the Scan tab, select the Document Type.

 

NOTE: If you are trying to scan multiple pages from the flatbed:

  1. Choose Custom and then click the Custom Settings button.
  1. Choose Manual Multi-page Scan, and then click OK.

 

 

5. Select you document's size from the dropdown box.

 

6. Click SCAN. The document will now be scanned and will appear in the Image Viewer. You may use the buttons at the top of the Image Viewer to make basic edits of your document.

 

NOTE: If you are using the Manual Multi-page Scan option, you will need to load the subsequent page and then click Continue. Once you have scanned all pages, click Finish.

 

7. Once the document has scanned, you may do one of the following:

 

·         SAVE THE SCANNED DOCUMENT

·         PRINT THE SCANNED DOCUMENT

·         OPEN THE SCANNED DOCUMENT WITH AN APPLICATION

·         ATTACH THE SCANNED DOCUMENT TO AN E-MAIL

·         CONVERT THE SCANNED DOCUMENT USING THE OCR FEATURE

 

SAVE THE SCANNED DOCUMENT:

The Save button lets you scan an image to a folder on your hard disk in one of the file types shown in the file attachment list.

 

1.    Click SAVE.

 

2.    The Save dialog will appear.

 

3.    You may configure the following settings:

 

·         File Type: Select the format of the saved file. (Ex: jpeg, pdf, tiff)

·         File Size: You can move the slider bar between Small and Large to adjust the file size.

·         File Name: Select the default prefix for the scanned document's file name. The date and sequence number will be added to the end of this prefix.

·         Destination Folder: Specify the location where the file will be saved.

·         Show Folder: Place a check in this box if you would like the Destination Folder to automatically open after the scan is complete.

 

 

4. Once you have made your selections, click OK. The document will now save in the specified location.

 

PRINT THE SCANNED DOCUMENT:

 

You can scan a page on the machine and print copies using any of the features of ControlCenter4 supported by your Brother machine's printer driver.

 

1.    Click PRINT.

 

2.    You may configure the following settings:

 

·         Paper Size: Select the size of the document that you would like to print.

·         Media Type: Select the type of paper you are printing on.

·         Layout: Select the Layout of multiple page documents.

·         Properties: Select the properties of the specified printer driver.

·         Preview: View the image on screen before printing.

 

 

3. Once you have made your selections, click START PRINTING. The document will now print to the specified printer.

 

OPEN THE SCANNED DOCUMENT WITH AN APPLICATION:

 

The Open with an Application button lets you scan an image directly into your graphics application for image editing.

 

1.    Click OPEN WITH AN APPLICATION.

 

2.    Select a Target Application from the dropdown.

 

 

3.    Once you have made your selection, click OK. The document will open in your selected application.

 

ATTACH THE SCANNED DOCUMENT TO AN E-MAIL:

 

The Scan E-mail button lets you scan a document to your default E-mail application, so you can send the scanned document as an attachment.

 

1.    Click SEND TO E-MAIL.

 

2.    You may configure the following settings:

 

·         File Type: Select the format of the saved file. (Ex: jpeg, pdf, tiff)

·         File Size: You can move the slider bar between Small and Large to adjust the file size.

 

 

3.    Once you have made your selections, click OK. The document will now be attached into your default e-mail client as an outgoing e-mail message.

CONVERT THE SCANNED DOCUMENT USING THE OCR FEATURE:

 

The OCR button lets you scan a document and convert it into text. This text can be edited using your favorite word processing software.

 

1.    Click OCR.

 

2.    You may configure the following settings:

 

·         File Type: Select the format of the saved file. (Ex: jpeg, pdf, tiff)

·         Target Application: Select which default application will open the file.

·         OCR Language: Select the language of your document.

 

 

3.    Once you have made your selections, click OK. The document will now be converted to OCR and opened in the selected application.
