How do I cancel print jobs using the control panel or print queue in Windows or Macintosh?

If a print job was sent to the print queue and didn't print or was sent to the print queue in error, it may need to be deleted to allow subsequent jobs to print.  Follow the steps for your operating system.



Windows OS:


a. Open the Printers folder:


Windows 8:


Move your mouse to the lower left corner of the Desktop or Start screen => Right-click the screen and then left-click Control Panel => Hardware and Sound=> View Devices and Printers.


Windows 7 or Server 2008 R2:

 - Click Start => Device and Printers


- Click Start => Control Panel => Hardware and Sound => Devices and Printers


Windows Vista or Server 2008:

 -  Click Start => Control Panel => Hardware and Sound => Printers


Windows XP or Server 2003:

 - Click Start => Printers and Faxes


- Click Start => (Settings) => Control Panel => Printers (and Faxes)


- Click Start => Control Panel => Printers and Other Hardware => View Installed Printers



Windows 2000:

Start => Settings => Printers


 b. Open the print queue:

 Windows 7, 8, or Server 2008 R2 Users:

Right-click on the Brother Printer and select - See What's Printing.


Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Server 2003, or Server 2008:


Double click on the Brother printer.

 c. Cancel the Print Job:

 Click Printer => Cancel All Documents (or Purge Print Documents).



d. Click Yes. This should clear the queue. 


NOTE: You may have to make several attempts to completely clear the print queue. If the print jobs still remain in the queue after several attempts, restart the computer.




 Macintosh OS:


a.  Click on the Printer's icon in the Dock to open its Jobs window.




b. Select the document you would like to delete.



c. Click Delete.
