Brother MFC-9970CDW

Wireless printing & scanning connectivity problems are the only issue I've encountered so far. Due to the fact I'm an IT professional, I had no problem remediating. The average user may require an IT friend's help.

9970 review
May 29, 2013
By kimk from Germantown, Wi
I have had my 9970 for about 2 months. Print quality and speed are great. However, the pages come out with a curl to them which is annoying. The cartridges are supposed to give you 6000 copies in black. That would be more than a case of paper. The yield is more like 3500 to 4000 copies per cartridge.

Color copies of copies come out dark.

Never really got out of the gate

Printed about 1000 sheets in B&W and color and then got a front paper jam. Removed the paper and went thru the diagnostics and then the problem migrated to a rear jam. Spent a day with the manual to no avail. Called Brother who sent their contracted Pitney Bowes serviceman to my home 3 times (he's here right now) but to no avail. Problem is not paper jams but either sensors or the actual motherboard for the printer.

They have easily spent more for their contracted repairman than the printer is worth. While I commend them on their prompt service and warranty, it seems foolish to spend all this money on repair, have me waste my time being here with the service person and not have a working printer.

This is my first Brother purchase and I am hard pressed to consider another, even if the product is repaired. I have other (competitive) printers that have lasted through tens of thousands (and more) prints without a hitch.

Hopefully Brother will make good on the warranty without more inconvenience to me or replace the product OR refund my money.

This site required me to give a rating of 1 - 5 stars, without an option for zero. I would have given zero had that been offered.
