Excited to start with machine embroidery
I found it very easy to get started embroidering with this machine. It's easy to thread, directions are clear, and the touch screen is intuitive. I had some questions that weren't answered in the directions that came with the machine, but I found good answers quickly online. I read about many different embroidery machines, from low to very high price, but the PE770 does everything I want to try for a modest cost. Because I live far from any sewing machine sales rooms, my choices of machine ... read more brands were limited, but Brother is sold online by several distributors, and there is plenty of information about Brother sewing machines online, so I was able to make an informed choice for a machine that fits my needs. (I'm new to machine embroidery, but have used many sewing machines, so your mileage may vary.)

    Well worth it!
I had researched MANY different machines (not just Brother) when I was looking for a reasonably priced embroidery machine. The PE770 was just that machine!! Very user friendly. This machine is a beast! And so far, it hasn't had a problem with any of the threads I've purchased. Really enjoyed using this machine!!

    A Very Nice Embroidery Machine
I have the Brother Simplicity SB7900E. It is an embroidery only machine. I’ve had it 5 months and have used it a few times a week. I upgraded from the Brother SE400 because I wanted a larger hoop, and I wanted to be able to use designs that I have saved to a USB jump drive and not have to hook up my computer to the machine (like you do with the SE400). I compared the P770, DZ820E and the SB7900E. I was going to buy one online but went to a local quilt shop/Brother dealer to see the machines in ... read more person. They only had the SB7900E. The price was similar to the other machines but came with the BES lettering software (they say a $400 value). There were also a few other options that made this one the better machine and I liked that I could buy it locally and take classes there. Note that the Brother website overview of the 7900E does not show that it has a USB port if you are comparing machines, but it does. You create your own designs and monograms in the BES and put them on a USB drive and then upload them to the machine to stitch out. Because I had owned the SE400, I was able to pull this one out of the box and use it immediately. It’s pretty easy to use. I put the BES software onto my laptop and was able to use that also. It’s similar to any windows program. It works fine on windows 8, though it’s an older version of the program. I did take a class on the software to learn all those little things that make it easier to use. I have no complaints about the machine. It has nice quality stitching. You need to use quality thread, not $1 spool discount stuff. I’m using Madeira as that is what was sold and used at the shop where I bought it. I didn’t like the #90 bobbin thread that came with the machine and switched to the #60 that came with my SE400. The machine seemed to like it better. I haven’t had to touch the tension settings. It’s still set as it came out of the box and working fine. The auto needle threader is fantastic. Really speeds up thread changes. You can fill the bobbins on the machine, then just drop one in the bobbin case and run thread through one channel and it’s done. It comes with the 5x7” hoop, and I bought a 4x4” hoop to use with smaller pieces of fabric. I was hoping I could use my SE400 hoops on this one but they have a different connector. The 7900E has a metal tab that you have to push to the left as you drop on the hoop. It takes a little practice, but once you get it, the hoop slides right on (drop the front on first, then the back just drops right in and you let go of the tab). The machine comes with 136 embroidery designs on it. I’ve only used 1 of them so far, but it stitched out nicely. I bought a few designs online and they stitched out nicely also. It comes with 6 fonts, but I’ve mostly used the fonts that come in the BES program, creating my words/designs/monograms and then uploading onto the machine from the USB. The program has over 150 fonts in it. I’m very happy with this machine.

    You won't be sorry
I just bought this machine a week ago. Although my class to learn more about this machine isn't for 4 months, it is very easy to use and I have been able to do several things right out of the box. I cannot wait to see what all I can do once I take my class!

    SB170
Love it. Wanted a small portable machine with 1/4" foot and walking foot attachments to take to quilting bees. Sometimes sews better than my big computerized machines!

Purchased a SB3129 for my wife...
After much online research and reading through sewing forums I chose the 3129 as what I believed to be one of the better values for sewing machines. It gets good reviews, it appears to be well made, it is easy to use and has plenty of features. The price was within my budget and I am pleased with how well it sews. If your a guy and your wife says she really needs a new sewing machin I think you would do well to research this model. It offers a lot of features / performance for the money. Even ... read more I can operate it.... reading a sewing pattern is a different story.

    Love This Little Machine
I purchased this machine to utilize when traveling, It will also be nice as a second machine for when my granddaughter comes to visit for a sew day. She has already used the machine and loves it. The best thing about Brother sewing machines is that they are so user friendly. You can open the box and start sewing. I love that this machine came with a detachable bed. Also I would like to thank my dealer, Shawn's Sewing in Branson, Missouri. The staff there is all terrific.

    Life is too short
That is the motto I'm working with now so when I saw this machine I simply said "I'm in!" I love it. I am a professional long arm quilter and just love to create. The Dream Machine is way ahead with creative technology for the project I want to make. The screen is huge, easy to navigate and works intuitively. I've not had any issues with this or any of the Brothers I've owned. When I was able to stitch out "Made with Grandma's love" in my own handwriting, I fell in love all over again. It does ... read more an incredible amount on its own, but by pairing it with digitizing software and a Brother Scan N Cut, the sky is the limit!

    Great Machine
I've only had my machine since 05/13/22015. But I can't say enough good things about this machine. I'm still learning all it's features. Having unlimited lessons is very helpful since there is no way you could learn or remember what this machine is capable of doing. I've been very lucky to have one on one lessons. If you could afford this beautiful machine get it , you will have no regrets.
