Labeling is an essential component for any laboratory to maintain proper identification, tracking and safety of specimens, and to protect lab personnel as well. It’s also vital to maintaining efficiency throughout testing processes. However, laboratories also feature among the most extreme environments of any operation.

Laboratory labels are often exposed directly to harsh conditions, which can include UV and other light spectrums, extreme temperatures, high pressure steam used for sterilization, and harsh chemicals, in addition to contact with protective gloves and other equipment worn by lab workers. Thermal transfer printers using special ink ribbons, synthetic face stock media and special adhesives produce a durable label, but they can often fail when exposed directly to chemicals and/or handling where the ink gets smeared and/or removed, all of which can compromise the proper identification and tracking of a specimen.

The durable laminated labels produced with the PT-9700PC and PT-9800PCN offer an excellent alternative for labeling within laboratory environments. The laminated labels they produce feature a unique layered composition, where your text, barcodes and graphics are printed under the clear protective laminate. The final label is made to withstand moisture, abrasion, boiling, freezing, microwaving, harsh UV, the high-pressure steam of an autoclave, industrial cleaners, sterilizing agents and solvents, and to remain affixed and clearly readable for years.

The PT-9700PC and PT-9800PCN are highly adaptable to laboratory environments. The small footprint of the devices fits practically any workspace. All laminated label media is on easy-swap, interchangeable tape cassettes, and laminated tapes are available in a wide range of widths – from 6mm to 36mm – and a variety of colors and adhesive types. A top-loading design makes it easy to change tape widths, colors and adhesive types in seconds, even when wearing gloves. Plus, with the PT-9700PC and PT-9800PCN, you can print the right label, right now – one, a few, or hundreds at a time.

The full-featured label-design software helps you create custom laminated labels on demand with lab logos, serialization, barcodes, symbols, time/date stamping and more right from PCs or Macs, and to use data from common database and spreadsheet applications to populate those labels.

The industrial-grade Brother™ P-touch® PT-9700PC and network-ready PT-9800PCN barcode and laminated label desktop printers include everything you need to get started – printer, label stock and full-featured software – to start producing the high-quality, durable labels you need for your lab right away.

Print specimen labels that stay affixed to glass and clearly readable throughout testing

Glassware and containers for collected specimens often get subjected to extreme temperatures, UV or other light spectrums, chemicals, moisture and other harsh testing conditions. Thermal transfer ink may smear or rub off. The unique Brother™ label lamination process not only protects the content of the label against degradation from exposure to chemicals, abrasion and UV, but enables the label to withstand extreme temperatures.

Machine print calibration labels

Handwriting on small labels is difficult and increases the risk of human errors. Brother™ laminated labels can be printed on-demand directly from many calibration management software applications, using data already recorded in the database.

Produce safety and instructional labels that stay on and clearly readable for years

Brother™ laminated labels not only protect the label’s text, graphics and barcodes from extreme conditions, they are also available in a variety of adhesive types, widths and colors. So when you produce laminated labels with warnings, equipment instructions, and proper procedures for safe use, they’ll stay affixed on practically any surface and remain clearly readable for years.

Protect laboratory assets with durable, laminated asset tags

Properly labeled assets can be tracked as long as the barcode label can be scanned and doesn’t fall off. Brother™ laminated barcode labels not only verify to a grade C or better, they are durable enough to last virtually as long as whatever you’ve labeled.

Seal calibrated systems and mark specimens and supplies with tamper-evident labels

Brother™ tamper-evident laminated labels are made with a special face stock which breaks apart and provides a clear visual indicator that the label has been disturbed or removed.

Get better organized and more efficient with bin box and shelf edge labels

Properly identified cabinets and shelves can help your lab to run more efficiently and safely. Brother™ laminated labels protect the label from chemicals and wipe downs, and they come in different tape widths up to 36mm wide that fit on virtually any shelf edge and/or bin box.

Two-year limited warranty*

The PT-9700PC and PT-9800PCN are durable, industrial-grade laminated label printers and are backed by a 2-year limited warranty* against defects and damage, which includes the print head.
