How do I clear the message "Jam Rear"?

To clear the message "Jam Rear", follow the steps listed below:

 

WARNING: If you have just used the machine, some parts inside the machine are extremely hot. Leave the machine turned on for 10 minutes to cool down.

 

 

1. Press the front cover release button and then open the front cover.

 

 

2. Remove the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly.

 

 

- If there is any paper inside or other debris inside the machine remove it and continue to the next step.

 

- If you are unable to remove the paper, continue to the next step.

 

NOTE: Leave the front cover OPEN.

 

3. Turn the Brother machine around with the back of the machine facing you.

 

4. Open the back cover.

 

 

5. Open the fuser cover by pressing the green tabs on the left and right towards you.

 

 

6. Using both hands, gently pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit.

 

 

7. Close the fuser cover until it clicks into place.

 

 

8.  To prevent paper jams from occurring, be sure to use paper that meets the specifications of the machine. For more information, refer to the solution -What size and type of paper is recommended for use in my Brother machine?  

 

- If the media is plain, thin, or recycled paper and meets the requirements for use with paper tray, close the back cover and go to STEP 11.

 

- If the media is bond, labels, envelopes or if it is a heavier weight paper, leave the back cover open and continue to STEP 9.

 

9. Turn the machine around reinsert the drum and toner assembly back into the machine. Make sure that it clicks into place.

 

 

10. Remove the media from the paper tray and load it into the multi-purpose (MP) tray. The MP tray is accessed by lowering the front section of the front cover.

 

 

a. Unfold the paper support flap (1 and 2) and adjust the left and right guides so that they touch both sides of the media without applying pressure.

 

 

b. Ensure that the media is not loaded above the maximum paper level marked on the left and right guides with a triangle pointing down. Go to STEP 13.

 

 

11. Turn the machine around and reinsert the drum and toner assembly back into the machine. Make sure that it clicks into place.

 

 

12. Close the front cover.

 

13. To test, print the Printer Settings by pressing MENU, 3 (Printer), 2 (Print Options), 2 (Configuration), START.
