My printed documents are missing colors. What can I do?

NOTE:  If you were referred to this solution and have already printed the PQCS (Print Quality Check Sheet) continue to STEP 2

 

1.    Print a Print Quality Check Sheet (PQCS): 

 

  1. Press MENU.

 

  1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Ink and press OK.

 

  1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Test Print and press OK.

 

  1. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Print Quality and press OK.

 

  1. Press the COLOR START key. A Print Quality Check Sheet will be printed.

 

 

  1. Study the PQCS; there will be four color blocks (Black, Yellow, Cyan & Magenta) made up of dotted lines. Check the quality of the four color blocks on the sheet.

 

 

 

  1. The LCD asks you if the print quality is OK, YES or NO.

 

-         If all the dashes are clear and visible, as shown under "OK", press the (+) key for YES.   Issue is resolved. 

-         If you can see missing short dashes as shown under "Poor", press the (-) key for NO and continue to STEP 1h. 

  1. The LCD asks you if the print quality is OK for black, YES or NO.  Select the appropriate answer by pressing the (+) key for YES or the (-) key for NO.

 

  1. The LCD asks you if the print quality is OK for the three colors, YES or NO.  Select the appropriate answer by pressing the (+) key for YES or the (-) key for NO.

 

  1. The LCD asks you if you want to start cleaning. Press the (+) key for YES and the machine will start cleaning the print head.

 

  1. After cleaning is finished, press COLOR START. The machine starts printing the Print Quality Check Sheet again.

  

-         If all the dashes are clear and visible, press the (+) key for YES. The issue is resolved.  

 

-         If any dashes are still missing, press the STOP/EXIT key and continue to STEP 2. 

 

2. Perform a User Reset Purge of the affected color.

 

  1. Press MENU, BLACK START, MENU. The LCD will display "0 MAINTENANCE" at the top of the screen.

 

b.    Press the up arrow until 7 is displayed on the LCD. Press OK.

c.    Press the up arrow until 6 is displayed on the LCD. Press OK. The LCD will display "CLEANING ALL"

d.    Press the up arrow until 5 is displayed on the LCD. Press OK. The LCD will display "uRESET_P ALL".  

-         If the affected color is Black, press the RIGHT ARROW key 1 time to display "uRESET_P Black"

 

-         If one or more of the 3 colors (Yellow, Cyan or Magenta) are affected, press the RIGHT ARROW to display the affected color ("uRESET_P Magenta" or "uRESET_P Cyan" or "uRESET_P Yellow") in the top left corner of the screen.

 

-         If Black and any color combination (Yellow, Cyan or Magenta) is affected select "uRESET_P ALL".  

 

  1. Press BLACK START. The machine will begin a cleaning cycle.

 

  1. Once the cleaning cycle has completed, print another Print Quality Check Sheet: 

 

              i.        Press MENU.

 

             ii.        Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Ink and press OK.

 

            iii.        Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Test Print and press OK.

 

           iv.        Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Print Quality and press OK.

 

            v.        Press the COLOR START key. A Print Quality Check Sheet will be printed.

 

 

-         If all the dashes are clear and visible, as shown under "OK", press the (+) key for YES.  The issue is resolved.   

                                                                                                                                                    

-         If you can see missing short dashes as shown under "Poor", press the STOP/EXIT key and continue to STEP 3. 

 

3. Perform a Power Purge of the affected color.     

 

  1. Does the machine display the message "INK LOW" or "REPLACE INK CANNOT PRINT"?   

          - If yes, continue to WARRANTY AND SERVICE OPTIONS.

 

          - If no, continue to STEP 3b.

 

  1. Press MENU, BLACK START, MENU. The LCD will display "0 MAINTENANCE" letting you know you are in Maintenance Mode.  If the display does not say "MAINTENANCE", press STOP/EXIT and repeat this step.

c.    Press the up arrow until 7 is displayed on the LCD. Press OK.

d.    Press the up arrow until 6 is displayed on the LCD. Press OK. The LCD will display "CLEANING ALL"

  1. Press the up arrow until 3 is displayed on the LCD. The LCD will display "POWER__P ALL".

-         If the affected color is Black, press the RIGHT ARROW key one time to display "POWER__P Black" in the top left corner of the LCD.

-         If one or more of the 3 colors (Yellow, Cyan or Magenta) are affected, press the RIGHT ARROW key to display "POWER__P Magenta" or "POWER__P Cyan" or "POWER__P Yellow".

 

-         If Black and any color combination (Yellow, Cyan or Magenta) is affected, press the RIGHT ARROW to display "POWER__P ALL". 

 

l.      Press BLACK START. The machine will begin a cleaning cycle.
 

m.  When the cleaning cycle is complete, print another PQCS:

 

                      i.        Press MENU.

 

                     ii.        Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Ink and press OK.

 

                    iii.        Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Test Print and press OK.

 

                   iv.        Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key to select Print Quality and press OK.

 

                    v.        Press the COLOR START key. A Print Quality Check Sheet will print.

 

 

-         If all the dashes are clear and visible, as shown under "OK", press the (+) key for YES. The issue is resolved.  

-         If a USER RESET and a POWER purge have been performed and the print quality has not improved, continue to WARRANTY AND SERVICE OPTIONS.
